Dear Church,
What does it look like when the Spirit is truly present and at work in our kindness towards the Family of God?
How have you expressed kindness to those in the Body of Christ?
Kindness can be seen as smiling, a kind greeting, a nice gesture, or having good manners. However, God is asking more from us. Our world today is in desperate need of kindness. It is in need of serviceable, benevolent, useful Christians who act and care, not just in word but in deed. It’s more than a “I’'ll pray for you” response. God is calling us to think outside of ourselves and seek the needs of others in the body of believers and beyond.
America is a very individualistic society. What’s in it for me? What about me?
God is calling us to be kind in our actions towards believers and those who do not believe. God’s way considers the orphan, the elderly, the widower, the foreigners, and the marginalized. They are His image-bearers and some of them are believers too. God’s Way of kindness is counter-cultural. It is grace being regenerated through the Holy Spirit. It is believers meeting needs that the Holy Spirit provides and not of our own doing.
There have been times in my life where I lacked resources yet the Holy Spirit gave me opportunities of actionable kindness towards other believers and others around me.
REAL TALK: You do not need an unlimited amount of resources to be kind. God is infinite and all-powerful. He’s got the whole world in His hands. He will provide the means and ways for you to express actionable kindness. You just need to be obedient to the opportunity, no matter how small.
Blissfully,
Bianca
